Food and Drink

There are numerous establishments within a ten minute drive offering delectable food

To name but a few of the most local Pubs and Restaurants:

The Black Horse;  The Firecrest; The Cock & Rabbit; The White Lion; The Cross Keys; The Red lion alias Origins Tapas & Wine bar;  The George; Annie Baileys; The Nag’s Head; The Plough; various delicious, more Oriental options.

The famous Rumsey’s Chocolatier in Wendover is where you can sip coffee whilst watching sumptuous chocolates being created.  The Chiltern Brewery provides tastings and tours, and regarding wine, there are excellent cellars at Waddesdon House (National Trust), although No2 Pound Street in Wendover is more local.  Also there is a small vineyard in the nearby Hale valley, or visits can be made to the picturesque Hambleden Valley about 35 minutes drive away.   For more information on locally grown foods and Farmers’ Markets in Bucks, Berks & Oxfordshire, please visit www.local-food.net

Cream Teas

From May to October many local historic Churches provide excellent home-baked Sunday cream teas (there are four within a ten minute drive!), or alternatively available all year/ daily at local Garden Centres such as Hildreths in Prestwood and Wyevale World’s End, Wendover.

Take Aways

We suggest fish n’chips are best eaten at source or it can cool down and spoil, but do recommend Wendover Chippy.  There is a choice of Indian and Chinese Take Aways, as well as Thai all in Great Missenden;  Pizzas are better eaten out or bought and cooked in the lovely Stove range;  Whitewaters Deli/Cafe  in Wendover make a good variety of fresh pizzas to take away and bake at home.
